Robert A. Dahl, Sterling Professor of Political Science (emeritus) at Yale University, is one of the world’s best-known political scientists. Among his many prominent books are A Preface to Democratic Theory (1956), Polyarchy: Participation and Opposition (1971), and Democracy and Its Critics (1989).
