Harry Harding, dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, is also a trustee of the Asia Foundation and a director of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. He is the author of a number of books about China, most recently Fragile Relationship: The United States and China Since 1972 (1992).
