Ralph Miliband is visiting distinguished professor of political science at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. He previously taught at the London School of Economics and Leeds University (England), and was Morris Hillquit Professor of Labor and Social Thought at Brandeis University. His publications include The State and Capitalist Society (1969), Marxism and Politics (1977), and Divided Societies (1989). He is also coeditor of the Socialist Register, an annual volume of essays published in London and New York that has appeared regularly since 1964.
